Hey everyone,

I’m so excited to invite you to the Fall Festival: Myths and Leyendas at the MFAH on Sunday, November 10th at 1 PM!

As one of the six artists selected for the MFAH’s call for proposals, I’ll be creating a large-scale anaconda sculpture. The Amazon River, home to the anaconda, is a mythical place where the anaconda created the river, its tributaries, and all the beings within and around its waters. The meandering river, like a snake, gives life, and the garden of the gods is its heart. The night, which gives us the “reguero de estrellas” (trail of stars), is where the jaguar seeds and protects all creation.

This project is inspired by Chiribiquete, a national park in Colombia known for its ancient rock paintings.

If you live in Houston, I hope you can join me at the MFAH Cullen Garden on Sunday, November 10th from 1-2 PM. If you’re not in Houston, I’ll be sharing photos and videos of the event.

I can’t wait to celebrate myths and legends with you!
